The New Art Fest & António Cerveira Pinto is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
Topic: Under the pandemic
Who’s going to build the black masterpiece about the horrors of viral disintegration. Of anyone’s death caused by a virus? Does it matter?
Somehow, humans are becoming prey either of semi-living creatures or falling into deception on an unprecedented scale. The so-called Anthropocene on its last leg seems to be the main character of a coming collapse. Incapable of leaving the “critical zone” of exploitation and corruption, it drowns in a cloud of misunderstandings and sorrow. Like Geoffrey Firmin, the alcoholic Consul of Malcolm Lowry’s Under the Volcano, Humanity seems to be writing its epitaph. This literary transposition intends to fix at least one topic of discussion between three artists that contributed to the 2020_21 edition of The New Art Fest.
